Nagasaki Prefecture tourism hits record high with 31.62 million visitors

Nagasaki Prefecture reported a significant increase in tourism for 2025, with the total number of tourists reaching approximately 31.62 million, marking the fifth consecutive year of growth. Tourism consumption hit a record high of 504.5 billion yen, an 11.0% increase from the previous year.

Driven by inbound demand and a weak yen, the number of foreign overnight guests rose by 18.7% to over 868,000, surpassing pre-pandemic levels from 2019. South Korean visitors were the largest group, totaling over 336,000. While international cruise ship calls increased significantly in some areas, the prefecture faces challenges regarding a recent decline in cruise ship arrivals from China.

Regional highlights include Nagasaki City, which saw over 10 million visitors, and Tsushima City, which experienced a 22.5% increase in tourists due to expanded ferry routes with South Korea.
