Nagoya Rail Archives to host exhibition on 140 years of Nagoya Station

The Nagoya Rail Archives will host its 13th collection exhibition, titled “The Turbulent Beginning and Surging Development: 140 Years of Nagoya Station,” at the Nagoya City Center from October 27 to November 8, 2026.

The exhibition will trace the history of Nagoya Station, a major transportation hub serving JR, Meitetsu, Kintetsu, and the Nagoya City Transportation Bureau. The station's history dates back to May 1, 1886, when it opened as “Nagoya” station (originally “Nagoya” under the Meiji government's official railway system).

Using archival materials, official documents, and historical newspaper articles, the event aims to present reliable data and uncover previously unknown historical facts regarding the station's development, including the introduction of streetcars, the Kintetsu Nagoya station, and the Nagoya City Subway.
