Nagpur authorities fine 374 hospitals for regulatory violations

Authorities in Nagpur have conducted inspections of 374 registered private hospitals to ensure regulatory compliance. The citywide audit focused on patient amenities, biomedical waste disposal, and sanctioned bed capacity.

Findings revealed that 73 hospitals had deficiencies in biomedical waste management, resulting in initial fines of ₹5,000 each. Additionally, 21 facilities were found to be operating with more beds than their approved capacity and were fined accordingly. Other identified issues included a lack of required parking facilities in 16 hospitals and failure to display mandatory patient information, such as treatment rate charts and helpline numbers, in another 16 facilities. The inspection campaign is ongoing to cover the remaining registered hospitals in the city.
