Nagpur Municipal Corporation cleared to recruit 17,981 vacant positions

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) can now fill all 17,981 sanctioned posts after the state resolved the establishment‑cost constraint that had blocked recruitment. The decision was made during a ceremony where appointment letters were handed to 579 newly hired municipal employees, including 476 sanitation workers appointed under the Lad‑Page Committee and 103 recruited directly.

Fadnavis praised Mayor Neeta Thakre and the launch of the Shram Safalya Housing Scheme for sanitation workers, calling them the city’s "Swachhata Doots." He also unveiled a WhatsApp ticketing service for NMC’s transport department, enabling commuters to buy bus tickets via QR codes. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari commended the move, urging the civic body to strengthen its finances through projects such as Orange Street and to expand public amenities.
