Nagpur Municipal Corporation targets ₹1,000 crore in property tax recovery
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has launched an intensive campaign to recover outstanding property tax, setting a target of ₹1,000 crore. The drive, which is scheduled to continue until September 30, is being conducted across all 10 NMC zones.
Initial results of the campaign include a ₹5 crore payment from MIHAN India Limited (also known as Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd). Other notable recoveries include ₹74.88 lakh from Murray Memorial Hospital and ₹10 lakh from Hotel Seven.
Mayor Neeta Thakre and Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar have directed officials to prioritize commercial properties and major defaulters. The administration has warned that failure to clear arrears may result in legal actions, including property attachment and other coercive measures.
