Nagpur Police Arrest 'Looteri Dulhan' Gang in Gujarat Man Marriage Scam

A 35‑year‑old man from Gujarat, identified as Akash Jindal, travelled to Nagpur in March seeking a bride. He was contacted by a group of women posing as potential brides. The women demanded a large sum for the marriage, initially asking for about 1.2 million rupees, and ultimately extracted 70,000 rupees in cash along with gold and silver jewellery before fleeing.

Nagpur tehsil police investigated the complaint and arrested four women suspected of operating the “looteri dulhan” (robber bride) gang: Namrata Riti Malviya (21), Rani alias Komal Pandey (31), Shahnaz alias Gudi Shahid Mohammad Ansari (36) and Ujjwala Shailesh Sonatke (41). The main alleged ringleader, Krishna Dhakate, remains at large. The case has been registered under fraud, theft and related offences, and police continue to search for additional accomplices.
