Nagpur police recover stolen newborn from Daga Hospital
A one-day-old newborn girl was recovered by police within six hours after being stolen from Daga Smriti Mahila Hospital in Nagpur. The incident occurred on a Friday afternoon when a woman wearing a burqa entered the ward and used the pretext of administering a vaccine to separate the infant from its family.
Investigations revealed that the suspect was a woman who had given birth three days prior but had recently suffered the loss of her own child. Driven by mental distress and the desire to reclaim a sense of motherhood, she had reportedly attempted to convince other mothers to hand over their infants by offering money for vaccinations, though she was only successful with the victim's family.
The infant has since been returned to her parents.
