Nagpur police transfer 16 traffic personnel amid extortion allegations

Nagpur Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil has ordered the transfer of 16 personnel from the city’s traffic branch to the police headquarters. The reshuffle affects units across several areas, including MIDC, Sadar, Sonegaon, Cotton Market, Kalamna, Pardi, Kamthi, Indora, Lakadganj, and Sitabuldi.

The move follows complaints regarding traffic congestion, rule violations, and the unauthorized entry of heavy vehicles into restricted zones. Additionally, allegations of extortion involving traffic branch personnel have surfaced in recent months. While official statements attribute the transfers to administrative reasons, the action follows confidential inputs regarding the branch's conduct.
