Nagpur pub set ablaze after man denied entry over gutkha

A 31-year-old man, identified as Mohanlal Tiwari, allegedly set fire to The Cafe Barrel, a pub in the Shivaji Nagar area of Nagpur, after being denied entry for carrying a packet of gutkha.

Police investigations indicate that the incident occurred on a Saturday evening when a security guard stopped Tiwari at the entrance. Officials stated that Tiwari felt humiliated by the confrontation because his friends were present at the time. Tiwari, a chef who has worked in 10 countries and currently operates a restaurant in Jayaprakash Nagar, allegedly returned to the premises later that night.

Investigators report that Tiwari poured petrol around the establishment and deliberately started the blaze, which was discovered in the early hours of Sunday. Reports suggest he may have sought assistance from a 23-year-old friend, Shubham Vishwakarma, during the incident. Further investigation into the arson is ongoing.
