Nagua residents block highway to demand answers in missing youth case
Community members in Nagua, María Trinidad Sánchez, blocked the Autovía del Nordeste to demand answers regarding the disappearance of 23-year-old Anderson Santos Rodríguez. The protest, which caused significant traffic delays on the route connecting Santo Domingo to Samaná, was organized by family members seeking to accelerate investigations into his whereabouts.
Rodríguez was last seen on October 7. During the search, family members discovered a partially burned white pair of pants and a red sweater in an area frequented by the young man. The family claims these items were what he was wearing when he disappeared.
While the Criminal Investigation Department (Dicrim) has conducted site visits and forensic collection, the family has expressed frustration over the perceived lack of progress and official transparency. Reports indicate that a person has been detained for questioning, though authorities have maintained strict confidentiality regarding the investigation.
