Nagykanizsa initiates new economic development strategies

Efforts to revitalize the economy of Nagykanizsa are gaining momentum through new collaborative initiatives and professional forums. A recent forum organized by the Nagykanizsa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HSMK, and OCECCD focused on strengthening regional competitiveness through circular economy practices, artificial intelligence, and smart regulation.

Mayor Jácint Horváth emphasized the importance of Nagykanizsa’s role as a border city, noting the need to expand economic ties toward the Balkans and other regions outside the main EU corridors. Additionally, the city’s Economic Development Council has been reactivated after nearly a decade of inactivity. This council aims to serve as an operational forum for continuous dialogue between city leadership, political representatives, and local entrepreneurs to coordinate strategic development and sustainable economic growth.
