The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has dismissed allegations regarding the diversion of 5,000 Hajj slots intended for the 2027 pilgrimage. The commission described the claims, which were attributed to unnamed “Concerned Private Travel Operators,” as unfounded and driven by commercial interests.

NAHCON clarified that Nigeria’s total approved quota for the 2027 Hajj is 50,000 slots. This allocation consists of 35,000 slots for states and the Federal Capital Territory, and 15,000 slots for licensed private tour operators managed under seven approved lead companies.

The commission stated that no evidence has been presented to show that the allocation breached Saudi Arabian Hajj regulations or Nigerian policy. NAHCON suggested the allegations may be an attempt to deflect attention from certain operators' failure to meet the regulatory requirements, timelines, and digital upload obligations set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
