NAHCON strengthens security and welfare focus for Nigerian pilgrims
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) is expanding its focus on pilgrim welfare and security coordination. Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed, recently commended NAHCON Chairman and CEO Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf for prioritizing the needs of Nigerian pilgrims in the commission’s administrative reforms.
In a separate effort to enhance safety, NAHCON has strengthened its partnership with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). During a meeting between NAHCON Chairman Yusuf and NSCDC Commandant-General Ahmed Audi, the organizations discussed improving security, crowd movement management, and operational coordination for future Hajj cycles. These collaborative efforts come as Saudi Arabia recently approved an increase in Nigeria’s Hajj allocation from 50,000 to 60,000 pilgrims.
