Nahdlatul Ulama formation team given one month to organize new PBNU leadership

Following the 35th Muktamar of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), the formation team has been granted one month to organize the new PBNU leadership for the 2026-2031 term. Saifullah Yusuf, the committee chairman, stated that the final determination of the management will be entrusted to the newly elected PBNU General Chairman, KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz (Gus Kikin), and the Rais Aam, KH Miftachul Akhyar.

Representatives from the US-Canada PCINU have expressed hope that the new leadership under Gus Kikin will continue the internationalization efforts initiated by the previous leader, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf. While praising the diplomatic achievements of the previous administration, local representatives suggested that future global engagement should more actively incorporate the aspirations of the grassroots NU members and address global issues such as the situation in Palestine.
