Naheed Nenshi claims Alberta referendum shows mandate for national unity

Official Opposition Leader Naheed Nenshi stated that the results of Alberta’s recent referendum demonstrate a strong mandate for national unity, asserting that voters across the province expressed pride in being Canadian.

Nenshi credited First Nations Chiefs, Councils, and numerous volunteers for advocating for national unity throughout the campaign. He criticized Premier Danielle Smith, alleging the government spent nearly $200 million in taxpayer funds on the referendum while failing to address essential concerns such as healthcare, education, and the cost of living.

Nenshi further accused the Premier of altering laws to assist separatist movements and stated that his party intends to shift its focus toward governance and public services following the vote.
