Halle Berry denies child abuse claims in custody battle

Halle Berry is involved in a legal dispute with her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, regarding the custody of their 13-year-old son, Maceo. Martinez has filed for sole custody, alleging that Berry physically abused Maceo during an incident on September 26 involving a virtual reality game. He claimed Berry choked the boy, an accusation Berry has categorically denied, describing the claims as “outrageous, false, and misleading.”

Berry’s 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, has filed a declaration in the Los Angeles Superior Court defending her mother. Nahla stated that she has “never observed anything abusive” in Berry’s parenting and has never seen her hit, slap, or choke Maceo. She described Berry as a “loving and devoted parent” who is supportive and involved in her children's lives, though she noted Berry can be strict regarding rules and respect.

Berry has also completed a court-ordered parenting education course following a temporary restraining order. Her legal team maintains that she is a victim of domestic violence and is seeking to restore a 50/50 shared custody arrangement.
