Nahuel Guzmán seeks Tigres renewal amid team struggles
Tigres UANL goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán has expressed his desire to renew his contract with the club, despite being the oldest player on the squad. Currently under contract until June 2027, the 40-year-old Argentine stated that any extension will depend on his ongoing performance and ability to remain competitive.
Guzmán addressed the team's recent struggles in the Apertura 2026 tournament, where Tigres sits in 16th place with only seven points after nine matches. While the team has faced a difficult run, Guzmán rejected claims that the club is in a crisis. He noted that the squad remains healthy and compared the current situation to previous seasons under manager Ricardo Ferretti, where the team often started slowly before improving in the second half of the tournament.
To qualify for the Liguilla, Tigres must secure significant points in their remaining eight matches against opponents including Puebla, Chivas, Pumas, and América.
