Nahuel Huapi National Park vandal ordered to restore damaged rock formations

A truck driver has been ordered by a federal court in Zapala, Argentina, to restore rock formations vandalized in Nahuel Huapi National Park. The ruling follows an incident on December 26, where the individual used red paint to write names on an ancient rock near Route 40 in the Valle Encantado area.

Under the agreement facilitated by federal prosecutor Juan Manuel García Barrese and approved by Judge Ezequiel Andreani, the defendant must complete the restoration and cleaning of the vandalized formation and eleven other sites along Route 237 within 90 days. Once the work is finished, the National Parks Administration must submit a report including photographic evidence to the prosecutor's office to confirm the restoration.
