Nahuel Santiago Coman appeals second trial in Uma Aguilera case

Nahuel Santiago Coman, who was previously sentenced to five years in prison for his involvement in the theft of a Toyota Corolla, has filed an appeal to suspend a second oral trial against him.

The defense filed the resource with the Tribunal de Casación Bonaerense following a rejection by the Lomas de Zamora Departmental Judicial Appeals Chamber. Coman’s lawyers argue that he cannot be tried twice for the same actions. However, the prosecution maintains that the previous sentencing was specifically for the vehicle theft, whereas the new investigation accuses him of a secondary role in the homicide of Uma Aguilera, which occurred on January 22, 2024, in Villa Centenario.

In the initial crime, Coman allegedly drove a Fiat 147 to transport the perpetrators during the vehicle theft and remained nearby to assist the killers. While other individuals involved in the homicide received life sentences, the status of Coman’s second trial remains uncertain pending a ruling from the Casación court.
