Nainar Nagendran sparks political row with remarks about CM Vijay's mother

Tamil Nadu BJP State President Nainar Nagendran has sparked a major political controversy following derogatory remarks directed at Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and his mother. Speaking at a party event in Chennai, Nagendran responded to a previous comment made by Vijay in the Legislative Assembly regarding the whereabouts of political opponents. Nagendran suggested that instead of searching for a father in the Assembly, Vijay should “go home and ask his mother.”

The remarks have drawn widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) ministers described the comments as “uncivilised” and “slanderous.” Even within his own party, former BJP state president K. Annamalai criticized the remarks as “third-rate politics” that crosses the boundaries of political decency by targeting a leader's family. BJP Vice President Khushbu Sundar also condemned the statement, asserting that women should not be used as political pawns.

A formal complaint has been lodged with the Chennai Director General of Police seeking legal action against Nagendran for defamatory remarks. In response to the backlash, Nagendran issued a clarification on social media, claiming his comments were misrepresented and that he did not intend to target any individual personally.
