Naira fluctuates against US Dollar in Nigerian foreign exchange markets
The Nigerian Naira experienced slight fluctuations against the US Dollar across different exchange windows. In the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM), the currency closed at approximately N1,332 per US Dollar, representing a marginal depreciation of about 0.08% week-on-week.
In the parallel market, the Naira appreciated by 0.14% week-on-week, settling at N1,359 per US Dollar. The spread between the official and parallel markets was reported at roughly N27.
Nigeria’s external reserves saw a modest increase of 0.02%, reaching US$55.09 billion. Analysts suggest that while the Naira remains sensitive to foreign exchange supply and demand pressures, the country's external reserves may serve as a buffer against currency volatility.
