Nairobi police seize two vehicles with identical registration number

Police at the Airbase Police Post in Nairobi's Eastleigh area detained two vehicles bearing the same registration plate, KBM 234Y, after a driver reported the duplicate. The driver of a silver Toyota Town Ace alerted officers that a Toyota Hiace was also displaying the same number. Officers intercepted the Hiace, impounded both vehicles and arrested the Hiace driver. The suspect remains in custody while investigators work to determine how two different vehicles obtained the same registration. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has been asked to verify the genuine plate and is pursuing digitisation measures to curb registration fraud, which has been linked to criminal activity.
