Nairobi Securities Exchange hits record 4.17 trillion KSh market capitalization

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has reached a record market capitalization of 4.17 trillion Kenyan shillings (approximately $32.3 billion), marking a 41.56% increase since the start of 2026. This rally has been significantly driven by Safaricom, whose share price reached its highest level in over four years, accounting for more than one-third of the total market capitalization.

In the exchange-traded fund sector, the Satrix MSCI World Feeder ETF reported a 16.5% increase in net assets, reaching 196.7 billion Kenyan shillings. The growth was primarily fueled by global equity market appreciation, with unrealized fair-value gains surging by 631.6%. The fund's unit price rose to 916 Kenyan shillings as of May 2026, up from its July 2025 listing price of 761 Kenyan shillings.
