Najac equestrian center closed after fatal horse-riding accident

A 12-year-old girl has died following a horse-riding accident in Najac, located in the Aveyron department of France. The incident occurred on August 7 during a beginner-level riding excursion organized by a service provider for the VVF (Villages Vacances Familles) equestrian center.

According to reports, three horses became uncontrolled, causing several riders to fall. The teenager succumbed to her injuries at a hospital, while two other children, aged 7 and 10, sustained minor injuries.

The Rodez prosecutor's office has opened a preliminary investigation into involuntary homicide and involuntary injury. Authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances of the accident and the organizational conditions of the excursion. Additionally, the prefecture has temporarily closed the equestrian center due to compliance issues.
