Cam Skattebo records zero carries in Giants loss to Saints
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo recorded zero carries during the team’s 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. Skattebo, who has struggled with ball security this season, played only six offensive snaps.
Skattebo attributed the lack of usage to being “punished” for fumbling four times in five games, including a critical overtime fumble against the Washington Commanders the previous week. While head coach John Harbaugh stated the lack of carries was “not by design” and that the team was rotating backs to find a consistent performer, Skattebo noted he expected a reduced role but was surprised by the total absence of touches.
In place of Skattebo, the Giants utilized a committee approach involving Najee Harris, Tyrone Tracy, and Devin Singletary. The team's rushing attack struggled significantly, totaling only 84 yards compared to the Saints' 175. The situation has led to speculation regarding Skattebo’s future with the team, including potential trade interest from other clubs looking to bolster their backfields.
