Nakheel awards marine works contract for Dubai Islands upgrade

Nakheel, a member of Dubai Holding Real Estate, has awarded a contract to Mar Marine & Building Contracting L.L.C. for marine and beach works on Island B at Dubai Islands. The project is scheduled for completion by the fourth quarter of 2027.

The scope of work includes upgrading approximately 3 kilometers of the island’s western shoreline and adding 320 meters of new beach frontage near the Bay Villas community. Specific tasks involve constructing new breakwaters, removing existing protective rock revetments, and forming a new beach. Mar Marine will also perform refurbishment and remedial works on several existing beach areas on the western side of Island B.

These marine works are part of a broader infrastructure rollout for the 18.6 square kilometer Dubai Islands development. This follows previous contracts awarded to Fibrex Contracting L.L.C. for development and Al Nasr Contracting Company for primary infrastructure and utilities. The enhancements aim to support the delivery of Bay Villas, a community consisting of 636 villas and townhouses.
