Nakhon Ratchasima authorities aid Thai-British man after viral video

Thai authorities in Nakhon Ratchasima have provided aid to a Thai-British man, known as Tar, and his 85-year-old grandfather, Watcharapong Thongtaem, following a viral TikTok video documenting their extreme poverty.

The video, posted by user @top1968, highlighted the family's living conditions on Muk Montri 22 Road, where the residence lacked a proper bedroom, bathroom, and basic facilities. Watcharapong, who is partially paralyzed and suffers from high blood pressure and gout, had been unable to receive medical treatment for approximately one year due to mobility issues.

In response, Nakhon Ratchasima Municipality Mayor Wannarat Chankunakul and officials from the Public Health and Environment Office and Social Welfare Division visited the home. The municipality provided 80,000 baht to renovate the house to make it safer for the elderly man. Additionally, health officials retrieved Watcharapong's medical records from Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital to coordinate ongoing medical care through Public Health Centre 3.
