Bydgoszcz court accountant accused of stealing 477,000 PLN

An investigation has revealed that over 477,000 PLN was stolen from the social benefits fund of the District Court in Bydgoszcz. The suspect, an accountant identified as Marzena S., has reportedly admitted to the crime.

According to findings from the Toruń prosecutor's office, the embezzlement occurred in two main stages: more than 400,000 PLN was taken between March 2012 and December 2019, followed by an additional 77,000 PLN between September 2022 and January 2023. The suspect allegedly transferred funds from the official account to her private accounts or those of her children to cover personal expenses. Marzena S. faces two charges regarding the theft of property of significant value, and an indictment is expected to be prepared within weeks.
