Nalagx Corp. plans New Brunswick TNT plant to boost NATO supply

Nalagx Corp., a private Canadian firm, plans to construct an explosives manufacturing facility in Belledune, New Brunswick. The project aims to produce 10,000 tonnes of trinitrotoluene (TNT) annually, a capacity that could potentially double the current yearly production of TNT for NATO countries.

Currently, NATO allies rely almost exclusively on a single factory in Poland that produces between 10,000 and 12,000 tonnes of TNT per year for use in artillery shells, bombs, and grenades. CEO Patrick Gagnon stated the facility is intended to address supply chain crises among Western allies and diversify the source of explosive materials.

The provincial government has offered Nalagx six square kilometres of government-owned land for the campus. The site was selected due to its proximity to essential infrastructure, including roads, railways, and the Port of Belledune.
