Nalkheda car accident kills eight pilgrims in Madhya Pradesh
Eight people, including three children, two women, and three men, died after their car was swept away by strong currents in a seasonal drain near the Maa Baglamukhi Temple in Nalkheda, Agar Malwa district, Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred on Saturday morning following heavy rainfall that caused a sudden surge in the water levels of the local drain.
Seven of the deceased were residents of the Khordha district in Odisha who had reportedly rented a vehicle from Ujjain to visit the temple. The driver was a resident of Barod Tehsil in the Agar Malwa district. Following the accident, local administration and police conducted a rescue operation using cranes and divers to recover the vehicle.
The tragedy has sparked local protests, with residents demanding the installation of safety railings and the construction of a higher bridge near the drain to prevent similar accidents during heavy rains.
