Nalua Studio announces Gley Lancer: Overdrive remake

Nalua Studio has announced ‘Gley Lancer: Overdrive’, a ground-up reimagining of the 1992 Mega Drive shoot-’em-up ‘Advanced Busterhawk Gley Lancer’. The title is being built natively for Neo Geo AES and MVS arcade hardware, while also targeting modern platforms including PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The remake features completely redrawn pixel art for 11 reimagined stages, new music, and enhanced gameplay mechanics. A central addition is the ‘Overdrive’ mechanic, a risk-and-reward system where players use a protective field that can also be fired at enemies in eight directions to increase score multipliers. Other features include configurable ‘Gunner’ satellites, a new speed boost, and various modes such as Boss Rush, Score Attack, and a dedicated Bullet Hell mode for modern consoles.

Scheduled for a 2027 release, the game will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show 2026.
