Nam Cao village preserves 400-year-old traditional weaving heritage

The traditional duoi fabric weaving craft in Nam Cao village, located in Le Loi commune, Hung Yen province, has been preserved for over 400 years. Since its introduction to the village in 1584, the craft has evolved from producing small strips of fabric for women's belts to wider widths suitable for clothing.

Despite the pressures of modern life, the village maintains its heritage through the continued use of wooden looms and traditional silk-reeling techniques. Historically, Nam Cao's duoi fabric gained international recognition during the French colonial period, when it was exported to European markets due to its durability and breathability.
