Dongheon Nam wins individual dressage gold at Asian Games
South Korean equestrian Dongheon Nam won the gold medal in the individual dressage competition at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Competing with his horse Leonidas at the Tokyo Equestrian Park, Nam achieved a score of 75.190, narrowly defeating China’s Jiayi Yu, who took silver with 75.050, and Jiayi Rao, who earned bronze with 74.935.
This victory marks South Korea’s first individual dressage gold at the Asian Games in 12 years, following a period of declining results that included a medal-less performance at the Hangzhou Games. Prior to the individual event, the South Korean team—consisting of Nam, Kim Si-woo, Lee Myung-seok, and Do Hyun-woo—secured a silver medal in the team dressage competition with a total score of 205.265.
Nam’s performance is noted as a significant comeback after the injury of his previous horse, First Edition, which prevented him from competing in the previous Asian Games.
