Nam-jong Paik elected first Korean president of WFNR

Nam-jong Paik, president of Seoul National University Hospital, has become the first Korean to be inaugurated as the president of the World Federation for NeuroRehabilitation (WFNR). His four-year term began during the 14th World Congress for NeuroRehabilitation held in Daegu.

The UK-based international organization represents over 5,000 members and collaborates with national societies in 41 countries. The WFNR focuses on raising awareness, supporting research, and promoting international cooperation in the field of neurorehabilitation.

Paik, a professor of rehabilitation medicine, has specialized in stroke and neurological disease rehabilitation, recently integrating artificial intelligence and digital health technologies into medical care. In his new role, Paik stated his intention to address the growing need for neurorehabilitation due to global aging and to work toward reducing healthcare disparities between high-income and low-to-middle-income nations.
