Namal Rajapaksa criticizes Sri Lankan government economic policies

During a parliamentary debate regarding motor vehicle regulations, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP Namal Rajapaksa criticized the government, stating that prosperity has only reached the President and 159 members while the general public suffers.

Rajapaksa highlighted several economic grievances, including the rising cost of living in rural areas and declining income for farmers. He noted that despite government claims of resource allocation, farmers have struggled with a lack of water and fertilizer, often having to purchase fertilizer at high prices. He also criticized the government for importing rice, which he argued negatively impacts local farmers.

Furthermore, the MP raised concerns regarding healthcare, noting a lack of essential medicines in hospitals, and questioned the fulfillment of previous government promises regarding the establishment of 50 universities.
