Namibia advances AI strategy and digital infrastructure with Deloitte partnership
On 3 August 2026 Namibia’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, met with a delegation from Deloitte & Touche Namibia led by country leader Melanie Harrison. The talks covered a wide range of priorities, including trustworthy artificial intelligence, broadband for all, cybersecurity, data‑centre development, AI‑factory concepts, clean‑energy solutions and the promotion of women in technology.
Deloitte shared insights from its global AI policy advisory frameworks and pledged support for Namibia’s efforts to strengthen its AI policy and legislative environment. The ministry has already begun consultations on a national AI Strategy Framework, a process coordinated by the National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST), with the aim of establishing clear principles before any legislation is introduced.
