Namibia allocates 101 farming units in Tsintsabis

The Namibian government has formally regularized the occupation of agricultural land for 101 beneficiaries in Tsintsabis. Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform Minister Inge Zaamwani handed over allotment letters for farming units at Farm Tsintsabis No. 881 and Farm Urwald No. 1150.

The allocation includes 38 units at Farm Tsintsabis and 63 at Farm Urwald. These farms were acquired by the government in 1992, prior to the Agricultural (Commercial) Land Reform Act of 1995, with the intent of supporting food production and income-generating activities.

Minister Zaamwani described the handover as a milestone in Namibia’s land reform program aimed at addressing legacy issues and providing equitable access to land. She emphasized that the allotment letters represent the beginning of a responsibility rather than the end of the process, warning that beneficiaries must use the land productively through livestock farming or crop production to prevent it from remaining idle.
