Namibia and Zimbabwe pledge to deepen economic and trade ties

Namibia and Zimbabwe have committed to strengthening bilateral economic ties to enhance intra-African trade and investment. During a ZimTrade outward trade mission in Windhoek, officials from both nations discussed expanding commercial cooperation, joint ventures, and supply contracts to drive growth in Southern Africa.

Data from the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board indicates that bilateral trade in 2025 has been heavily export-led by Namibia. Key Namibian exports to Zimbabwe include frozen fish, petroleum oils, and semiconductor devices, while primary imports from Zimbabwe consist of mineral substances and malt.

In a separate development, the Zimbabwean government launched the theme for the 2026 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) International Expo. The event, titled ‘The Industrial Imperative: Scaling with Discipline, Transforming for Enduring Impact’, aims to facilitate the transition of micro, small, and medium enterprises from survival-oriented models to sustainable, competitive businesses capable of contributing to national industrialization.
