Namibia cattle marketing surges 31% in July
Namibia's livestock sector experienced a significant surge in activity during July, with total cattle marketing increasing by 31.85% month-on-month to reach 30,653 head. This growth was primarily driven by a 73.14% increase in live exports and an 18.51% rise in A-class export abattoir slaughter.
South Africa remains the primary destination for Namibian live cattle exports, receiving 95.94% of the total, mostly consisting of feeder cattle for South African feedlots. Angola and Botswana also accounted for small portions of the live exports. Despite the higher volume of marketing, producer prices remained relatively stable or strengthened slightly, as increased availability was absorbed by strong export demand.
