Namibia celebrates Heritage Week through cultural and educational events

Various organizations and educational institutions in Namibia are observing Heritage Week to promote cultural preservation and social cohesion.

At the National Museum, the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture collaborated with international peace groups, including Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light (HWPL) and the Rob Youth Foundation, for a two-day event. Under the theme “Preserving Heritage for Future Generations,” approximately 200 participants engaged in presentations regarding the link between heritage and peace, as well as community activities such as a clean-up campaign near the Independence Memorial Museum.

In Tsumkwe, learners and teachers at Tsumkwe Primary School celebrated the week through traditional dances, poetry, art displays, and cultural food tastings. The school integrated academic activities, such as math quizzes and spelling bees, with heritage celebrations to encourage students to take pride in their cultural roots while pursuing their studies.
