Namibia features historic diamond ghost towns and coastal adventures

Namibia offers diverse landscapes ranging from the historic diamond mining town of Kolmanskop to the adventurous Skeleton Coast.

Kolmanskop, located near Lüderitz, was once a wealthy mining town following the discovery of diamonds in 1908. Due to German colonial administration, the area was fenced off for mining operations. Today, the town exists as a ghost town where sand has accumulated inside many of the well-preserved buildings, creating a unique landscape shaped by the desert environment.

Further along the coast, the Skeleton Coast provides opportunities for adventure activities such as quad biking through massive sand dunes. The region is characterized by the contrast between the Atlantic Ocean and the desert, and visitors may encounter local wildlife including seals and various bird species. The optimal time for exploring this coastal region is during the dry season from May to October.
