Namibia hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe in T20 tri-series ahead of Africa Cup

Namibia will host a T20 tri-series featuring South Africa and Zimbabwe at the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek from 28 August to 6 September. The tournament, organized by Cricket Namibia in partnership with Cricket South Africa and Zimbabwe Cricket, aims to strengthen collaboration among African cricket nations and provide regular high‑quality competition.

The series is positioned as a stepping‑stone toward the launch of the Africa Cup in 2027, a continental tournament that will initially rotate between the three host nations before expanding to include more African teams. Profits from the event will be donated to the Africa Cricket Association to support cricket development across the continent. Cricket Namibia CEO Johan Muller praised the partnership and the title sponsor FNB for enabling the competition.

Officials highlighted the importance of the series for player development and for establishing a sustainable competition structure that will raise standards and create a clear pathway for African nations to compete at the highest level.
