Namibia National Council Holds Joint Stakeholder Engagement with Government Agencies

The National Council of Namibia convened a three‑day Joint Stakeholder Engagement with Offices, Ministries and Agencies (OMAs) from Tuesday to Thursday in the capital. The sessions, organized by the Council’s Standing Committees, aim to give members a clear view of ministries’ strategic priorities, policy directions, budget frameworks and implementation programmes.

Secretary Tousy Namiseb stressed that the meetings are meant to foster collaboration rather than confrontation, noting that “we are not here to fight or blame one another, but to find common ground on how OMAs can better carry out their functions.” Vice‑Chairperson Bethuel Tjaveondja added that better alignment of policies and strategies is essential for effective service delivery and that decentralising services will bring them closer to the people. The engagement is intended to strengthen parliamentary oversight, improve public‑service outcomes and build lasting relationships between the legislature and the executive.
