Namibia prepares for COSSASA Games and COSAFA U20 qualifiers

Namibian youth athletes are preparing for two upcoming regional sporting competitions. A delegation of approximately 65 athletes has departed for Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, to compete in the Confederation of School Sport Associations of Southern Africa (COSSASA) Games from August 31 to September 2, 2026. The team, which includes competitors in athletics, football, and netball, underwent a national training camp in Windhoek to build unity and physical readiness.

Separately, the Namibian Under-20 football team is preparing for the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations COSAFA Qualifier, scheduled for September 18-27. Drawn into Group A, Namibia will face hosts Mauritius, Mozambique, and Seychelles. The team aims to replicate their 2020 performance, where they reached the championship final before losing to Mozambique.
