Namibia promotes investment in minerals and tourism growth
Namibia is implementing broad economic strategies to attract foreign investment and modernize key sectors. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah recently addressed U.S. business leaders in New York, positioning the nation as a strategic logistics, energy, and mineral hub. She emphasized that Namibia serves as a gateway to the 400 million-consumer Southern African Development Community (SADC) market.
The President highlighted opportunities in the emerging oil and gas sector, as well as critical minerals including lithium, uranium, copper, and cobalt. She stated that the country aims to move beyond being a mere exporter of raw materials by developing industrial value chains and services.
Simultaneously, the government is targeting significant growth in the tourism sector. Under the Sixth National Development Plan, Namibia aims to reach 1.8 million international tourist arrivals by 2030. This strategy includes leveraging artificial intelligence and digital marketing to increase the sector's economic contribution to 18.5 billion Namibian dollars.
