Namibia reports record vehicle sales and surging cattle exports
Namibia has experienced significant growth in both its vehicle and livestock sectors. In July 2026, the vehicle market recorded its strongest July on record, with 1,535 units registered, marking a 17.6% increase compared to July 2025. This growth was driven by passenger vehicles and a 52.4% surge in extra-heavy vehicles. Toyota dominated the market with a 57.2% share, while Chinese manufacturers achieved a 19.2% penetration in the passenger vehicle segment.
Simultaneously, Namibia’s live cattle exports surged by 151.61% year-on-year to 13,008 head in July 2026. This spike was largely attributed to high demand for weaners from South African feedlots. The Livestock and Livestock Products Board reported that feedlot cattle accounted for nearly 96% of these exports. The strengthened cattle market also led to increased producer prices for weaners and slaughter ox.
