Namibia secures historic first ODI victory over Ireland

Namibia achieved a landmark milestone in cricket by defeating Ireland by 31 runs in the second One-Day International (ODI) held in Windhoek. This victory marks Namibia’s first-ever ODI win against an ICC Full Member nation.

Captain Gerhard Erasmus anchored the Namibian innings with a career-best, unbeaten 156 runs off 125 balls, including 14 fours and four sixes. Jan Frylinck provided significant support with 76 runs, helping Namibia reach a total of 321/6 in their 50 overs.

In response, Ireland reached 290 runs in 47.3 overs. Despite a 77-run effort from captain Paul Stirling and a late 58-run partnership for the ninth wicket by Gavin Hoey and Jai Moondra, Ireland could not overcome the Namibian bowling attack. Jack Brassell led the defense, taking four wickets for 52 runs, including the dismissals of Stirling, Lorcan Tucker, George Dockrell, and Curtis Campher. Erasmus also claimed the final wicket to secure the win. The five-match series is currently leveled at 1-1.
