Namibia seeks Botswana investment and expands youth oil‑gas employment

Namibia invited investors from Botswana to explore opportunities in agriculture, renewable energy, mining and tourism, saying bilateral agreements should be turned into economic benefits. High Commissioner Elizabeth Kakukuru highlighted the aim of building high economic growth and creating substantial jobs by adding value to natural resources. Investment officials stressed Namibia’s political stability, skilled workforce and a one‑stop centre by the Business and Intellectual Property Authority to simplify company setup.

At the same time, Namibia’s emerging petroleum sector has opened pathways for more than 60 young Namibians. The Petroleum Training and Education Fund reported internships and permanent positions with firms such as TechnipFMC, SBM Offshore, Subsea7 and Yinson Production, while companies like Halliburton, SLB, Baker Hughes and BW Energy continue recruiting. PETROFUND has invested over N$250 million in training around 500 participants, aiming to build a skilled workforce for the country’s oil and gas future.
