Namibia seeks to expand export markets through China trade and SME partnerships
Namibia is positioning itself to leverage new trade opportunities through China’s zero-tariff framework for eligible African exports. This policy is expected to make Namibian products, such as beef, seafood, minerals, and agricultural goods, more competitive in the Chinese market, aiding the nation's efforts to diversify its economy and reduce dependence on traditional trading partners.
In a parallel effort to bolster domestic trade capabilities, FNB Namibia and DHL Namibia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The partnership aims to address financing and logistics hurdles by combining DHL’s GoTrade programme, which provides export training and mentorship, with FNB’s business financing and advisory services. The initiative is designed to help local entrepreneurs secure working capital and develop the skills necessary to compete in international markets.
