Namibian Correctional Service honors 989 officers with long service medals

The Namibian Correctional Service (NCS) has recognized 989 officers with long service medals for their dedication and professionalism. The conferment follows legal approval by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

A Long Service Medal Parade was held at the Windhoek Correctional Facility, where 300 medals were presented. The remaining medals will be distributed to eligible officers at various institutions, including the Walvis Bay and Swakopmund correctional facilities, throughout the current financial year.

The medals are awarded in three categories: 58 Gold medals for at least 30 years of continuous service, 295 Silver medals for at least 20 years, and 636 Bronze medals for at least 10 years. Qualifying service from the Namibian Defence Force or the Namibian Police Force may also be considered by the Commissioner-General. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security Lucia Iipumbu and Commissioner-General Raphael T Hamunyela.
